The Pride of Real Estate

Growing up I remember asking my mother on a regular basis for toys, clothes, and even a pet.  Each time I asked for anything she gave me the same answer, "We can't afford it right now.  We need to save money to buy a house."  After several dreadful experiences in different apartments across Harlem New York, home ownership became extremely important to my mother.  She made it her goal and stayed persistent.  As a single black mother of four children,  the odds seemed stacked against her. Making enormous personal sacrifices and taking advantage of numerous government benefits were the keys to her success.  Closing on her first house was one of her proudest moments in life.  It could easily be compared to giving birth to me twice. Simply amazing.  I was 14 years old at that time and I knew I wanted that same for myself.  I wanted to own a home.  Eight years later, I purchased my first home.  I didn't make a lot of personal sacrifices or go through the struggles my mother did but I was about to taking advantage of government benefits to literally get my feet in the door.
Throughout the this semester I intend to research various areas and topics in the residential real estate market and submit my findings.  In no way am I a real estate agent or broker.  I'm merely an interested consumer looking to educate others whom maybe interest in real estate.
